My Story

I was raised in a Catholic family, but my heart was closed to a deeper relationship with Jesus for a long time. I was super busy, and I put my identity in academics, sports, and other achievements.

During my sophomore year studying biochemistry at Iowa State University (Roll Clones), I met a FOCUS missionary named Lex York. Through her witness, I began to see that I was made for more. I learned that no achievement I earned would ever fulfill me because I am made for Heaven. That year, I attended bible study, the annual SEEK conference, and a mission trip to Ecuador. The Lord encountered me through each ‘yes’ I made, and as I received my identity as a beloved daughter, I began to be set free.

My new life with Christ was abundantly joyful, but on campus, I saw that many students were still walking around with a heavy weight on their shoulders. I joined FOCUS to bring others to know the freedom and joy of Christ, and to show them how to live fully alive!
