Hi, I’m Abel! I grew up just outside of Boulder, Colorado and the Lord has called me from one mountain town to another to serve in Flagstaff, Arizona! I serve at NAU in a team of five missionaries whose goal is to bring students into an encounter with the God who loves them and to walk with them as they learn to trust Him! Sko Jacks!!

My passion for campus ministry comes from my own experiences with the dangers of modern university culture. I spent the first three years of my time in college immersed in the party culture on one hand, and in the belief that my worth came from my achievements on the other. The world told me that having a good time and getting good grades would make me happy, so that’s what I did. But by the middle of my junior year, after totally dedicating myself to those two paths for so long, I couldn’t believe how unhappy I was. As far as I could tell, my life had no worth outside of academic accomplishments and good times. It was the students at the Catholic Center at CU Boulder who proposed to me that I was worth more than that, and they convinced me that it was true by the incredible kindness they showed me. Their example of the joy of a life with Christ and the way they lived out His love facilitated my own relationship with Jesus. It is the greatest gift I have ever received and I am so excited to be able to share that gift with others full time as a FOCUS missionary!

As a missionary I have committed to relying fully on the financial and spiritual support of others so that I can give myself fully to the students on campus.
