Where I serve

Hello! I am Anthony Perez, a first year missionary with the honor of serving North Central College, Elmhurst University, and the parish of Saints Peter and Paul in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois.

¡Hola! Soy Anthony Pérez, misionero de primer año con el honor de servir en North Central College, la Universidad de Elmhurst, y la parroquia de Santos Pedro y Pablo en las afueras de Chicago, Illinois.

My Story

When I arrived at UCLA, I was lost, longing for something greater than success or independence, and carrying the pain of a broken home and a faith long discarded. Through a providential encounter with a FOCUS missionary at the University Catholic Center, I rediscovered my faith, returned to the sacraments, and found healing in Christ. Now, confirmed in the Church and full of purpose, I joyfully serve as a FOCUS missionary to help others encounter the love and freedom I’ve found in Him. I first felt called to full-time ministry while co-leading a Bible study. Though I struggled with self-doubt and competing professional goals, the encouragement of those missionaries helped me recognize my potential and trust God’s direction. After prayerful discernment, I’ve committed this season of my life to growing as a missionary and learning to win souls for Christ.

Cuando llegué a UCLA, me sentía perdido, anhelando algo más que el éxito o la independencia, y cargando con el dolor de un hogar roto y una fe abandonada hacía mucho tiempo. Gracias a un encuentro providencial con un misionero de FOCUS en el Centro Católico Universitario, redescubrí mi fe, volví a los sacramentos y encontré sanación en Cristo. Ahora, confirmado en la Iglesia y lleno de propósito, sirvo con alegría como misionero de FOCUS para ayudar a otros a encontrar el amor y la libertad que yo he encontrado en Él. Sentí el llamdo al ministerio de tiempo completo por primera vez mientras codirigí un estudio bíblico. Aunque luchaba con la inseguridad y las metas profesional contrapuestas, el aliento de esos misioneros me ayudó y a confiar en la guía de Dios. Después de un discernimiento en oración, he dedicado esta etapa de mi vida a crecer como misionero y a aprender a ganar almas para Cristo.
