We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
My name is Asher Mersereau, and I am privileged to serve as a Philanthropy Engagement Officer with FOCUS!
I serve as a Philanthropy Engagement Officer with FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students), my role is to build meaningful relationships with people like YOU—individuals who feel called to support the spiritual transformation of college students. I serve as a bridge between the generosity of our donors and the life-changing work happening on campuses across the country. Through prayerful collaboration, I help align our donors’ philanthropic goals with FOCUS’s mission to evangelize and disciple the next generation of Catholic leaders.
Together I believe we can truly change the world for Jesus Christ!
I grew up in a faithful Protestant family, but during his teenage years, I fell into sin and spiritual darkness. In the midst of that struggle, the Lord called me back, and through his searching, he discovered the Catholic Church and the deep intimacy with Christ it offers. I entered the Church on April 25, 2020, and through the support of FOCUS during my conversion, I was inspired to become a missionary and lead others to Christ as I had been led. My wife, Mikayla was raised in a devout Mormon household. Yet when she entered college, her faith faded, and she questioned whether God truly loved her. Through two FOCUS students at her Newman Center, she encountered the Catholic Church and entered into full communion on April 3, 2021.
We got married right after college and were privileged to serve for two years at Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD.
Now my wife and I live in the Twin Cities in Minnesota, where I work for FOCUS as Philanthropy Engagement Officer.
When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help my family through this mission. We’ve been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with us as we serve on campus. The work I do would not be possible, if not for the generous support of our partners. If you are interested in partnering with us, please let us know of the best way to reach you and we will schedule an appointment. We’d be honored to share in this mission with you.

By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
