My Story

I was raised in the Catholic faith. From an early age, my parents laid a strong spiritual foundation for our family. We attended Sunday Mass each week and kept Christ at the center of our home.

When I transitioned into college, I quickly fell out of practicing the faith and receiving my sacraments. My heart began chasing after worldly happiness, relationships, and desires. While I seemed to be living out the “normal” college experience, I still felt a sense of emptiness and longing for a bigger purpose in life.

My junior year, I met one of the missionaries at my college after attended a Newman Mass. Shortly after, I went on a spring retreat with the ECU Newman Center, centered on Divine Intimacy. It was during Eucharistic Adoration at that retreat where I encountered a deep peace from the Lord. In that moment of stillness, I found myself praying the words of the Surrender Novena: “Oh Jesus, I surrender myself to You. Take care of everything.” That was the beginning of a transformation in my heart.

During my last year of college, I invited Jesus into the parts of my heart that were still in need of healing and I saw Him open up many opportunities of surrender and growth. My last semester on campus, I had the joy of leading my own bible study, attended SEEK, participated in more retreats, and going on a FOCUS mission trip to Belize. Each opportunity led me wanting to grow closer to Him.

Through continuous prayer and saying the small “yes’s” to Him, Jesus has faithfully walked with me, restoring my heart and drawing me closer to His. I’ve been continually amazed by the way His grace is prominent in both quiet moments and big leaps of faith. As a FOCUS missionary, I am filled with joy to accompany other woman on their journeys of faith and help them come to know their identity and worth as beloved daughters of Christ.
