My Story

I was raised in a Catholic family, but didn’t really know who God is or what it meant to have a relationship with Him so I eventually fell away from the faith in high school. Upon entering college I had the mindset of “breezing by” just getting my degree, not forming any lasting friendships, and had no intention of growing in my faith. This all changed when I encountered a FOCUS missionary during my freshman year of college.

While I was reluctant in the beginning, this missionary pursued me in a very intentional way and challenged/pushed in ways that only brought me closer to God. Her invitations and authentic friendship opened the doors to so many more opportunities to grow in my faith, leadership skills, and form genuine friendships. Her friendship has shown me a glimpse of what Christ’s love can do for us, how much it can truly change us for the better. At this point, I had such a strong desire to continue to get to know Christ, I was ready to say “yes” to a lot more things that God had in store for me.

By growing in relationship with the Lord, I was able to share more of myself to the Lord and others in my life. I was able to grow in trust and vulnerability with the Lord as well as be more open to community with others. Eventually, I grew a desire to share who He is not only to my peers, but also to the wider audience of college student hoping I can be witness of who God is. Inviting God into my life has made me into who I am today and I truly know what it means to be a daughter of God.
