We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
I was raised in a cradle Catholic family and attended Catholic school, where I learned about God and the Christian worldview. It wasn’t until I moved from Georgia to Kansas in middle school that my faith became personal. For the first time, I met peers who didn’t just know about God – they knew Him. Their witness invited me to move from knowing of God to encountering Him as a loving Father. After a powerful moment in Eucharistic adoration, the faith became real: Jesus was alive and loved me in a personal, radical way. That encounter stirred a desire to leave behind a self-centered life and commit myself to building up people in the faith, just as others had poured into me.
I entered college at Colorado State University, on fire for my faith. I joined Bible studies, regularly received the sacraments, led worship, and was discipled by a FOCUS missionary. But even amidst spiritual zeal, I faced my own brokenness. I tried to be the “perfect” Christian, yet ended up placing my identity in relationships rather than in Christ. This left me empty, ashamed, and hiding my face from God. I slipped into a lukewarm lifestyle and turned to the party culture, trying to find gratification and fulfillment in things apart from God.
Even in my best attempts to run from God, the Lord still continued to meet me there. Through the love and presence of my Catholic community and FOCUS missionaries, I rediscovered the heart of our God who pursues us even amidst our failures. He didn’t ask me to be perfect – He simply wanted my heart. In my poverty, I found freedom. I learned that His love is not earned, and His grace transforms even our deepest wounds into places of glory. Apart from Him, I can do nothing, but abiding in Him, my joy is made complete.
Now, I long to walk with others as they discover and rediscover this truth for themselves and come to know the One their hearts have been searching for.
As a FOCUS missionary, I have the privilege of relying on God’s providence through the generosity of others. As I have said yes to dedicating my life to this mission, you too have the opportunity to say yes to supporting this ministry through your financial and spiritual generosity.
Your partnership has the power to change lives and bring the gospel to souls who are longing for truth, freedom, and love. I would be honored to have you join me as a co-laborer in the vineyard.
“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.” – Matthew 9:37
Know that I am praying for you, and I look forward to connecting about how you can be a part of this great mission. May God bless you.
