I have been called to serve the students at Central Connecticut State University with an amazing team of missionaries!

My Story

I have been a practicing Catholic all my life, albeit a lukewarm one up until about 2022. I had gone to Catholic school all of my life and received a wonderful Catholic education. Yet the priest and the altar always seemed beyond me, something far away.

For highschool I attended an all boys Catholic School and was blessed to have a community that allowed me to grow in my faith. When the time for college applications began I was overwhelmed and needed help. Being unsure where to go and what to do, I started going to Mass on campus to discern where I would be for the next four years. WPI was what came from that prayer and discernment and it was undoubtedly one of the best decisions of my life.

In my sophomore year at WPI, I was introduced to FOCUS. I had been going to Sunday Mass regularly, but I still did not know the person of Christ. I was going through the motions. At that time I saw the joy of the Catholic community at WPI and knew I wanted to be a part of it.

Through the help of a friend I joined a Bible Study, and met a FOCUS missionary. He gave me the incredible gift of a virtuous friendship. He was someone who cared about me, someone I could talk to about anything, and someone who most importantly lead me closer to Christ. He helped me to understand that I am a beloved Son of God, and eventually the priest, the altar, and Christ didn’t seem so far away. Before I knew it, I was going to adoration, confession, and daily Mass. I found immense joy in the friendships I made in the Newman Club and even more in seeing those around me grow in their faith. Now as a FOCUS missionary, I have been called to show students this joy, invite them into relationship with Christ, and help them know God’s immense love for them!
