We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
Although I had some exposure to the faith and a few personal encounters with Christ, I had no intention of getting involved with my Catholic faith when entering undergrad at the University of Missouri-Columbia (Mizzou). Upon arriving at Mizzou, my first experience of college was sorority recruitment, which made me question my identity and what I wanted in life. After joining my sorority (Pi Beta Phi), a dear friend pursued me in friendship and showed me the truth, beauty, and goodness of the Catholic Church through intentional time together and sincere conversations. I realized that what I was looking for wasn’t in the temporal world around me but in a life lived with Jesus. Little by little, I was reintroduced to the person of Jesus Christ and increasingly desired to have a relationship with Him, committing myself to daily prayer, frequenting the sacraments, and investing in faithful friendships.
Ultimately, I’ve grown in the conviction that Jesus Christ is Lord and the whole point of my existence is to know Him and make Him known. I’m ecstatic to share this urgent message with the college students entrusted to me.
When I joined FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I’ve been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know the best way to reach you, and I will schedule an appointment. I’d be honored to share this mission with you.
