We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
“Nevertheless, to praise you is the desire of man, a little piece of your creation. You stir man to take pleasure in praising you, because you have made us for yourself, and our heart is restless until it rests in you.” – St. Augustine of Hippo
Hello! My name is Mark Zara and I am thrilled to be a FOCUS missionary! So excited to serve the students of Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana!
I had a profound conversion to the Catholic faith in my Junior year in college. I experienced considerable restlessness as I left high school, feeling thoroughly unsure of what to do or where to go in my life. While attending Community college, I felt like I could do more. Called to something higher, in my ignorance, I took it as a call to just higher education. While attending the University of Illinois, I encountered the Lord at St. John’s Catholic Newman Center. Having grown considerably in intimacy with God since my acceptance of the faith, I am convinced that I was brought to Champaign, Illinois, for this purpose, to have this conversion. I can confidently say that the Lord used my restlessness to draw me closer to Him, and I subsequently dedicate my life to serving Him in helping other restless hearts find rest in Him.
Come join me on mission! As a missionary, I have committed to relying solely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners. Through your support, you join in an integral part of the great commission to spread the gospel. I want to foster a strong relationship with all of my supporters, so if you’re interested in partnering, reach out! I will happily schedule an appointment with you, and would be honored to have you on my team!

By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
