We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
I am beginning my second year at the University of Nebraska – Kearney, a place already dear to my heart! There is so much momentum on campus right now, and it’s an honor to be here.
Every time I step onto campus, I see our students walking in and out of the cafeteria, of class, of Chik-fil-A — hungry. Hungry for friendship as they walk alone, hungry for human interaction as they stare at their phones, ultimately hungry for God as they look for something to give their lives meaning. In these moments, I think often of Mother Teresa’s words: “You in the West have the spiritually poorest of the poor.”
This is why I desired to become a missionary. If I can help to make the space where just one more person encounters Christ and His Church, perhaps changing the course of that person’s life for all eternity, what a privilege that He would want to work through me that way.
My own experience is that I had the tremendous blessing of being born into a faithful, joyfully Catholic family. I always knew that I was made for eternal life with God. My parents would often tell me how much more He loved me even than they did, and I got to grow up with this happy certainty!
Yet in my high school years, I ran up against my own weakness and brokenness in a new way. The Lord’s commandments began to feel like a burden that would break me, and I found myself paralyzed with shame and fear of my Heavenly Father. Then, in His generosity, the Lord sent some holy, prayer-filled women to speak His truth into my life. From them, I began to learn a new language for prayer which led me into greater intimacy with God. He no longer felt like a far-off taskmaster but truly a best friend who wanted to share every part of my life with me.
I have been given so much, and I am so desirous to keep learning how to give it away as best I can. The graces of the sacraments together with the graces of daily prayer have truly changed everything for me. They have made my life more free, unafraid, and joyful than I ever imagined possible, while preparing me for the life to come. I just want everyone else to experience the same, and more!
With FOCUS, my teammates and I strive to share the Good News in a similar way to Jesus’ own: investing deeply, over the course of multiple years, in a small number of students (and in so doing, reaching the whole world!). We spend our days on the same campus with the same students, leading them in Bible studies and small mentorship groups, growing in trust and friendship and virtue as we run towards Heaven.

Meet my 2026-27 team: Christian, Maya, Lauren, Megan, Megan & Scott!
Would you prayerfully consider coming to campus with me as a mission partner? As a full-time missionary, I have the opportunity to share this work with a whole team of friends as I rely completely on your spiritual and financial support. It’s all of us on this mission; I just happen to be the face that people know (and what an honor that is).

We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.

By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.

We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
