We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
I had an encounter with God as a freshman at James Madison University. I had always been Catholic and known about Jesus, but I would’ve hesitated to say that I had known Jesus.
On a retreat, I was invited to look closely at the story of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15. Verse 20 reads:
And he arose and came to his father. But while he was yet at a distance, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him.
I was so moved. Although I had heard this story before, when I realized this is the kind of way God loves me, my life couldn’t remain as it was. I allowed Jesus access into parts of my heart which were previously off-limits. While not a painless process, the grace I have received has enabled me to live more freely and love more fully.
During my time at JMU, I have had the privilege of being a part of FOCUS discipleship as well as the Knights of Columbus, in which I served as Grand Knight for a year.
Now, I want to devote my life to sharing the Gospel and helping other people dispose themselves to the endless love that Jesus has for them.
This is my first year in FOCUS, and I can’t wait to be assigned to a college campus for the Fall!
Hey, thanks.
I know that there are many options when it comes to mission support, and I am so grateful that you have chosen mine! By your gift, we can reach men and women who will spread the Good News through their campus, as well as the entire world.
I am praying for you!
Thank you!
We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
