I serve at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA)!

I’m an honorary Bruin!

The Lord has invited me to continue serving at the University of California, Los Angeles! I am beyond grateful and blessed to be returning to the UCLA campus for a third year and am so excited to continue to see how the Lord transforms the lives of all of His children! Please join me in praying for the conversion of hearts of the students on this campus and for my team as we continue to share the Gospel and fulfill Jesus’ Great Commission! (Matthew 28:19) I have also been blessed to have served with incredible teammates, and though each year my team has changed, the friendships we’ve formed have bonded us for life. Below are photos of my teammates and I every year that I have been at UCLA.

¡El Señor me ha invitado a continuar a servir en la Universidad de California, Los Ángeles! ¡Estoy más que agradecida y bendecida de estar regresando al campus de UCLA por mi terce año y estoy muy emocionada de continuar a ver cómo el Señor transforma la vida de todos Sus hijos! ¡Por favor únase conmigo para orar por la conversión de los corazones de los estudiantes en este campus y por mi equipo mientras continuamos compartiendo el Evangelio y cumpliendo la Gran Comisión de Jesús! (Mateo 28:19) También he tenido la bendición de haber servido con compañeros increíbles, y aunque mi equipo ha cambiado cada año, las amistades que hemos formaddo nos han unido para toda la vida. Hello friends! My name is Perla Rodriguez and I am halfway through my third year serving with FOCUS, the Fellowship of Catholic University Students, as a campus missionary at UCLA. I was raised just 20 minutes away from the heart of Los Angeles and I deeply desire to watch California return to its beautiful Catholic roots. Though I was raised in the Sacraments, my life was far from virtuous and faithful, but it is not the Lord’s will that any of His children be lost and just as he ached for my heart, He aches for the heart of every single student on this campus and across the world. The journey of a hundred miles begins with one step and the conquering of the world for Christ begins with one soul. It’s a battlefield for souls on this campus and I want to do my part in fulfilling the Lord’s call to make disciples of all nations, reminding these students that Jesus is the happiness and truth they’ve been yearning for.

These four years of college are where students find or lose their faith completely and I have had the privilege of watching so many students find their faith and community through knowing Christ. What an incredible gift it is to serve here! So many students are searching and we can reach them one by one, if we look forward with hope and trust that the Lord desires the heart of all of His children. Through the intentional pursuit of friendship and being a witness of a life for Christ, the Lord can do all things and I am honored to be a friend and witness to the students on this campus.

When I accepted the call to serve with FOCUS, I surrendered two years that could now turn into four at UCLA. I desire to serve this community for as long as the Lord calls me and when called to serve I was asked to embrace the gift of humility through fully fundraising my salary with monthly donations. This mission requires everything and I can’t do this work without the prayerful and financial support of a team of mission partners who want to share in watching young hearts return to Christ.
