We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
I am serving as a first year missionary at Colorado Mesa University. I am excited to serve the students there and the community my fellow Focus missionaries have formed and poured into already.
I love people so much. In high school and college, I worked at a bakery. I never tried to be preachy about my faith, but I would not shy from telling people that I went on a retreat recently and felt it gave me more direction in life or that I could not work certain hours because I wanted to go to mass Sunday morning. Such little conversations often sparked curiosity in my friends and coworkers and I loved sharing a little bit about what Jesus and the Catholic faith meant to me. I also simply treasured these and all little conversations. I majored in Classics and minored in Theology in college at Benedictine in Atchison Kansas. From every angle, we would ask the questions “what is the nature of reality” and “how should I live my life?” My conclusion from countless hours studying, writing, and diving into conversations was this: If your life is not ultimately ordered towards people and Jesus, you will feel lost in life and in fact you are lost. In College, I felt lost at times, even when I frequented the sacraments and prayed consistently! I prayed, but I there was something inmcomplete about my Faith. I did not love it enough to share it with my friends. It was a Focus missionary that challenged me to share my faith more intentionally. One fruit of this was that I led a bible study. This became one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. In bible study, I felt I could open a space where my friends could grow closer to Jesus and where we could pursue Him together. Joy seemed to enter our friend group more firmly and I felt what I was really impacting people by bringing them into contact with Christ, the source of any true life. I want to do this more.
By choosing to be a Focus Missionary, I chose to be poor like Jesus. Jesus chose to let people like Martha and Mary support him in His material needs and by their prayers. I want to help other people know Christ but to do this I do need much support. It is my desire and belief that when people support me, they get to share in the beautiful work we are doing at Mesa. I need financial support so that I can be radically available to the students. I need your prayers so that I do not get in the way of Christ and His plan.

We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.

By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.

We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
