We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
Hey! My name’s Seán. I’m a FOCUS missionary.
“Fear not – the Lord is our help: our shipwright, our captain, our guide.” Off they set boldly west,
towards the setting sun… for its light is Christ.
– The Voyage of St. Brendan
For my first year on mission with FOCUS, the Lord has called me to move across the pond — to serve with six other missionaries at the Bosco Project house on the Auraria campus in downtown Denver, Colorado.
I’m really excited for this opportunity to build genuine friendships and share the joy of the Gospel with students at the three colleges on campus: the University of Colorado Denver, Metropolitan State University of Denver, and the Community College of Denver.
Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and don’t do what I tell you? (Lk 6:46)
This felt like my refrain growing up whenever I’d consider my faith. I always had a sense that if the faith was true then everyone ought to take it more seriously. I’d ask, looking to be affirmed in my desire to know Christ.
Though this never went away, I didn’t know what to do with it. So, I went about my life largely the same as all those around me: studies, sports, partying, working, procrastinating. Yet, there was always this call to Him that I’d try to follow.
He, of course, had a plan – and after an embarrassing number of not-so-subtle hints, Our Lord led me to an event organised by the FOCUS missionaries at UCD.
In this community, I never needed to ask. These people were so clearly on fire for their faith; they were so immediately, joyously welcoming that I was swept up. Soon, I was taking part in weekly Bible studies, attending Newman society dinners and being guided by the missionaries – who showed a genuine interest in me – to see Christ and His Church more personally, confidently and clearly.
For the Son of man came to seek and to save the lost. (Lk 19:10)
I know that there are so many people out there, on college campuses and beyond, who feel lost and alone, who don’t understand the true value they have in their Father’s eyes. I hope that through my work as a missionary, God will be able to lead these people to feel seen, known, and loved, to experience the beauty of virtuous friendships, and to fall ever more deeply in love with Him.
When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I surrendered myself to God’s providence and reliance on the spiritual and financial support of a team of mission partners, allowing me to dedicate myself full-time to students on campus, leading them to better know themselves and Jesus Christ.
Thank you so much for considering partnering with me on this mission. It is only through the generosity and faithfulness of people like you that these souls can be reached with the message of the Gospel.
If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I’d be honoured to share this mission with you.

By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
