We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
“Let us remember that love lives through sacrifice and is nourished by giving. Without sacrifice there is no love.”
– St. Maximilian Kolbe
I will be starting my first year of FOCUS Missionary work at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee!!! UW-Milwaukee is an expansion campus which means I will be part of the first FOCUS team to serve there! Go Panthers!
One day in college I was dragged to a Catholic Newman Center where I had an interesting encounter. A missionary sat down at the table I was at and started chatting with me and eventually he asked me what I was doing at UW-Madison. I promptly replied what major I was and what kind of job I might be looking for in the future, but he stopped me and reframed the question to ask: “What is my purpose here?” I gave a vague answer and changed the subject, but it stuck with me for a couple days. What was I doing? Was this the life I had dreamed of as a kid? Not exactly. I wanted to know more about what prompted this missionary to ask such an audacious question, and that was around the time I had my first encounter with true love. No, not a girl (although that came later), but Christ himself. Present to me in the Eucharist, his Church, and his people. Through continual prayer, learning, and being formed by Godly men and women through Christ and his ministry at St. Paul’s in UW-Madison I experienced the joy that Christ promises us in Heaven. It changed my life and the way I will continue to live forever and what better way to live out this life than giving the gift that that FOCUS missionary gave me 4 years ago. God has captured my heart and will continue to work through me and the lives of countless students at UW-Milwaukee to turn us from a people of aimlessness to a people of jubilee!
The front lines are calling. Will you answer?
In the past, I’ve led Bible studies and discipled students, helping them grow in their relationship with Christ through genuine friendship and prayer. This year, I’m excited to bring that same heart for mission to campus by helping lead a renewed push to invite students into deeper prayer lives through Holy Hours and greater involvement with the Newman Center. I want to show students that beginning a relationship with Christ is the best decision they’ll ever make.

We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
