We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
Hello! My name is Trevor. I’m a first year FOCUS missionary serving at the University of Delaware. Go Blue Hens!
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations” – Matthew 28:10
As Jesus’s disciples, we are called to go out and evangelize. For every person that looks different. Jesus has called me to give my whole self to evangelize in a college setting and I have answered this call! I will be serving at the University of Delaware this coming fall to share the joyous news of Jesus Christ.
I grew up Catholic, going to mass every Sunday but never developed a personal relationship with God. As I graduated high school and went to college at the University of Wisconsin, I began to be sucked into the ways of the world and away from my faith. However, these things never fulfilled me and left me feeling empty. At the end of my freshmen year I realized that I still need faith in my life. I began going to bible studies, being involved in a Christian org, and going to mass again. Yet, I still struggled with my faith as I failed to create a personal connection to God, he still remained obscure to me.
That changed as my time at Wisconsin came to a close. As I approached graduation I wrestled with what I wanted to do with my life. Ultimately, I turned to God asking him what he wanted me to do. This led me to choosing to go to graduate school at Temple University. Once there, I decided to do all I could to run towards God and have a real relationship with him as a thank you for answering my prayer. Through the guidance of some amazing FOCUS missionaries, authentic friendships, and a lot of grace from God my life completely changed while at Temple. I learned to center my life around Christ and for the first time felt truly fulfilled.
As I grew closer to God, I began to have a greater appreciation for the lifestyle of the FOCUS missionaries and all that they did for me and all the other college students at Temple. That was my first call to mission, which only grew stronger with time. I want to serve God by helping college students through arguably their most challenging and impactful part of their life. 80% of Catholics that leave the church do so by the time they turn 23, making college the make or break point in their faith journey.
When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I’ve been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I’d be honored to share this mission with you.
