Participant Interview: What to Expect
Why an interview?
The interview helps in thee ways. It helps your trip director get to know you, it provides an opportunity for you to understand the demands of the trip, and it is a chance for you to ask questions about the mission.
What should you expect?
- The trip director will give an overview of what a FOCUS mission trip looks like and a brief description of the work your trip could do.
- There will be questions about how you handle conflict and how you remain flexible in challenging circumstances.
- We have no requirement for being Catholic, but we do ask whether participants are willing to partake in daily mass, prayer and small group discussions.
- Prepare to share any pertinent medical history or dietary restrictions you have.
- Confirm the time and time zone you and your trip director will talk on the phone.
- Above all, please be as honest as possible.
- We are not looking for a person who is the best at everything, but rather a variety of people with diverse abilities and experiences.
FOCUS strives to make reasonable accommodations for anyone desiring to participate in a FOCUS mission trip. However, FOCUS Missions cannot guarantee that our hosts in a given mission location are able to accommodate every situation. If you require particular accommodations due to a medical condition, dietary restriction, or mental health concern, we ask that you disclose this information in your interview.
