We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
Since 2015, I’ve been privileged to serve as a FOCUS National Chaplain.
I serve at FOCUS’s Denver Support Center, located in the beautiful foothills of the Rocky Mountains, just above Denver in Genesee, Colorado. My role involves supporting our local DSC staff, as well as a great deal of travel. I celebrate the sacraments, offer spiritual direction, speak in parishes, lead retreats, assist at national events, visit our campus missionaries and serve as chaplain on short-term mission trips to Europe.
God bless Dan Erisman, who challenged me to read through the Gospel of Matthew and introduced me to Christ when I was fourteen years old! Ever since, I’ve had a passion to do for others what Dan did for me. When I was fifteen, my first pastor helped me discern that I would one day be ordained. In my early twenties, I served as a missionary translator in Communist Yugoslavia. After I returned home, I married my wife, Lynn, a woman vastly superior to me – and a proud Swede!
While attending my first seminary, I started a new church for the Evangelical Free Church and, later, served five years as an Episcopal clergyman. In 2003, Lynn and I became Catholic, along with our four youngest children. In 2008, Pope Benedict granted Daniel Jenky, Bishop of Peoria, permission to ordain me a married Catholic priest, under the Pastoral Provision created by Pope St. John Paul II.
Since my ordination, I’ve served four parishes and taught at St. John Vianney Seminary here in Denver. In 2015, Curtis Martin, the founder of FOCUS, invited me to join FOCUS as a part-time National Chaplain. And now, what a privilege it is to serve full-time with FOCUS!
FOCUS is all about winning students for Christ, building them up in the faith and sending them out on mission. By God’s grace, that’s been my mission in every parish I’ve served – both Protestant and Catholic.
Your financial support makes possible my apostolate as FOCUS National Chaplain. Your generosity enables me to provide priestly support to our heroic missionaries, as well as our faithful staff here in Denver. I’ve always had a special relationship with my benefactors – and look forward to serving you as well!
We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
