We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
Hello! My name’s Anamaria and I’m a Varsity Catholic FOCUS missionary!
“Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
John 15:13
I’m excited to be serving at St. Francis University in Loretto, Pennsylvania for my first year as a FOCUS missionary!
After rowing crew at West Point, I’m super pumped to work with college athletes and to be a witness to the identity and worth that the Lord bestows on us, separate from our achievements.
Growing up in a Non-denominational Christian home, I came to know Jesus at 6 years old. By attending Christian schools most of my childhood, I grew to understand and believe Baptist doctrine.
When my family moved to Japan, I grasped for a sense of stability. I found it in my friends and tried to fill the God-shaped hole in my heart with other people. I tried to satisfy a hunger for divine intimacy with people just as broken as myself. By God’s grace this house came crashing down and I realized that the only foundation I can build upon with confidence is the Rock, Jesus Christ (Matthew 7:24-27).
I clung to Scripture and embraced Baptist teachings from school. I prayed to be a missionary, and heard God say, “I want you to be a missionary, but not in the way you imagine.” I felt called to New York, so I applied to the United States Military Academy with the heart of a missionary: to treat every relationship as an opportunity to love people towards Christ.
My second year at West Point, the Lord opened my eyes to see the reality of the Eucharist. This was the true food and true drink that my soul ached for (John 6:25-59). I saw the truth and knew I could never turn back. I entered the Catholic church and applied to be a FOCUS missionary.
I believe in the nature of the truth, which is this: if you seek the truth, you will find it.
When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I also committed to relying on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to aid me in this mission. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. It would be a privilege to share this mission with you!

By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
