We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
“Even to your old age I am the same, and to your grey hairs I will carry you: I have made you, and I will bear: I will carry and will save.” -Is. 46:4
God has called me to serve my first year at UW-Eau Claire! Being a Wisconsin native and having had gone to school in the UW system, I’m honored to begin my service as a missionary in the Dairy State.
Growing up in an Evangelical home I had many seeds of faith planted within me, but by lack of authentic Christian friendship and the many temptations the world offered during my adolescent years I gradually drifted away from the faith. After graduating from high school I took a year at UW-Fox Cities and a semester at UW-Madison for engineering, and it was during this time that I realized just how deep a hole I had dug for myself by my neglect of God.
By the time I started my studies at UW-Oshkosh I was personally committed to living my life more intentionally for God, but I didn’t yet know Jesus personally, and I failed to understand the importance of community in the Christian life. It wasn’t until my Junior year at Oshkosh that I began to get involved with the Newman Center and attend their OCIA classes. The FOCUS missionaries at Oshkosh were amazing, and I don’t believe I would have persevered through my conversion into the Catholic church had it not been for their friendship and guidance. Their constant presence made me feel like a welcomed member of the community, and their joyful witness motivated me to grow ever deeper in my faith.
The Newman center was where I began to learn truly how to pray and read the scriptures, where I had my first encounter with the sacraments, and where I was able to first embrace and behold the love our Lord has for us. By far my time at the Newman center has had the most meaningful impact on me during my time in college, and so I am enthused to be able to provide that chance for encounter with the students of Eau Claire!
By answering the call to serve with FOCUS, I decided to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners. I am very blessed to have the care and support of so many wonderful people as I embark on mission, and it’s an honor to share this work with them. If you are interested in supporting me, please let me know the best way to reach you and we will find a time to meet! I would be thrilled to connect and share this mission with you.

By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
