Fr. James Keiter is a Priest of the Archdiocese of Omaha. He was ordained a Priest on June 2, 2001. His first assignment was as an Associate Pastor at Sacred Heart Parish in Norfolk, NE from 2001-2004. In 2004 Fr. Keiter moved to Omaha to become Pastor of Assumption Parish in South Omaha and president of Assumption Guadalupe Catholic Elementary School. Shortly thereafter, Fr. Keiter additionally became the founding President of St. Peter Claver Cristo Rey Catholic High School. Fr. Keiter served in South Omaha thru June 2011 when he then moved to Fremont to serve at St. Patrick’s Parish and Archbishop Bergan Catholic High School.
Since October 2014, Fr. Keiter has been Pastor in Fordyce, NE at St. John the Baptist, St. Boniface and St. Joseph Parishes which is now All Saints Parish. This assignment is unique to Fr. Keiter because he is now only a few miles from the farm he grew up on just west of Hartington, NE. His mom lives in Hartington and his youngest brother along with his wife and family now live on and operate the family farm.
In July of 2019 Fr. Keiter became Pastor of Holy Family Parish with Churches in Bow Valley, Wynot and St. Helena as well as St. Rose of Lima Parish in Crofton in addition to All Saints Parish. He also taught 7th grade, 8th grade and Senior Theology at Cedar Catholic High School from October 2014 thru 2020.
In August 2022, Fr. Keiter graduated with an MBA from the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND. Then in July 2023, Fr. Keiter was given additional duties as Pastor of 5 more parishes bringing his current family of parishes to 8 parishes / 12 Churches in the northeast corner of Nebraska.
Fr. Keiter currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Mount Marty University in Yankton, SD and as Spiritual Advisor to Hope of the Poor Missions in Mexico City.
