Welcome! My name is Grant and I am a first-year FOCUS missionary. Thank you for visiting my support page. The fact that you are here says something about you – you are interested in something bigger than yourself.
Thank you for being a Kingdom builder!
“The world promises you comfort. But you were not made for comfort. You were made for greatness.”
After serving at Doane University in Crete, NE during the fall of 2023, I have now been called to serve the students at the University of Maryland in College Park, MD! Go Terps!
Please include our team and the students at Maryland in your prayers!
The best way to describe my life before I had a personal relationship with Jesus is that I was a lukewarm Catholic. When I was growing up I had great parents and examples of people authentically living their faith to look up to. However, my own faith was shallow and I looked at it as just another part of my life. I viewed God as merely someone to go to whenever I needed help with something. Then as I transitioned into college my faith started to be tested really for the first time. I began to chase what the world taught me would make me happy. As time went on, I found myself unfulfilled with what the world had to offer and felt an aching within me. Interestingly enough, during this time God gave me opportunities to choose Him but I wasn’t courageous enough to fully say “yes.” Thankfully, our Lord is persistent! Another couple years went by and I found myself completely empty. I felt like a failure as I was struggling to decide on a major and was questioning the purpose God had for my life. This brought me to a moment of total surrender during my junior year, which stands to this day as the most pivotal moment of my life.
At this point, I felt God’s grace and mercy pour into my soul in an almost tangible way. I was given a newfound purpose and awareness that He did indeed have a plan for my life and that He desired to have a personal relationship with me. From that point forward I sought to strengthen my relationship with the Lord through daily prayer and by frequenting the sacraments, especially daily Mass. I also got more involved in the Newman Center at Purdue and attended a student-led retreat during the spring of my senior year. This experience sparked a desire within me to live and share the Gospel with others and to foster Christ-centered relationships with those around me.
After graduating from Purdue with a degree in math education, I went on to teach math in a public high school. Throughout the time that I was teaching, I saw many young people searching and aching to know Jesus Christ just as I had a short time ago. The desire to share the Gospel with others grew even stronger within me during this time and I heard the Lord calling me to live radically for Him as a full-time missionary. I have accepted this invitation to share the hope and love of Jesus Christ with a generation that is so desperately searching for purpose and fulfillment – the type of purpose and fulfillment that only Jesus can give.
“You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you.”
– St. Augustine
It is only through the generosity of people like you that I can be radically available to minister to the students I encounter on campus. Thank you for joining this mission of winning hearts for Jesus Christ!
When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I’ve been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I’d be honored to share this mission with you!
Below are the best ways to reach me. Please feel free to shoot me a text or an email!
