Hi! I’m Skylar & I’m a first-year missionary serving at William and Mary in Virginia. Go Tribes!

I waited patiently for the Lord; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up out of the desolate pit, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God” (Psalm 40: 1-2).

All my life I’ve sought out the idea of something more, but could never quite figure it out. The lack of knowing the Lord led me astray in a multitude of ways… until He saved me. Life since then has been full of gratitude and love for the Lord, and I now know that my identity and worth do not come from the things of this world, but by a merciful and loving Father that is all good, and wants good for me specifically.

By the grace of God, FOCUS missionaries were placed on my campus and their ministry changed the trajectory of my life forever. They helped guide me further towards knowing Jesus and towards a relationship with Him, which is what we are ultimately made for. They encouraged me to pick up my cross and continue on a path of life full of love, compassion, strength, and discipline. A life full of Christ Jesus.

With making Christ the center of my life, He has done remarkable things in my life and those around me. I express immense gratitude for all that I’ve encountered since meeting Christ through the missionaries at my university, and have the greatest honor in joining the mission of FOCUS as well!

For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found! And they began to celebrate” (Luke 15: 24)

As a FOCUS missionary, I long for souls to encounter Jesus through the eucharist. To feel His merciful, unwavering love for His children. To find their purpose in this life and strive toward holiness. We are called to sainthood, and we are also called to Christs mission — spreading the Gospel.

For you have been my partners in spreading the Good News about Christ from the time you first heard it until now. And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns “Philippians‬ ‭1‬:‭5‬-‭6‬ ‭
