Spend One Hour with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament
Whether this is your first time or your hundredth, this hour is about one thing: being with Jesus. You don’t need to “do it right”—just come with an open heart.
We know it can be hard sometimes to figure out what to do, so why not use this pre-made Holy Hour guide to help you out!
PRINTABLE GUIDE
Opening (5 minutes)
Begin with the Sign of the Cross
“In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.”
Quietly greet Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
You might pray:
“Jesus, I believe You are here, truly present in the Eucharist. I adore You. I love You. I give You this hour.”
Optional opening prayer (from the Manual for Eucharistic Adoration):
“Lord Jesus, I come before You just as I am. I surrender my worries, distractions, and burdens. Help me to rest in Your love.”
Scripture & Reflection (15–20 minutes)
Choose a passage to pray with using Lectio Divina:
Here are a few great options:
- John 15:1–11 – “Abide in me…”
- Luke 10:38–42 – Martha and Mary
- Psalm 63 – “My soul thirsts for you”
- Matthew 11:28–30 – “Come to me and rest”
Here are more of our favorite passages for Lectio Divina!
Use the Lectio Divina method:
- Read the passage slowly.
- Reflect: What word or phrase stands out?
- Respond: What do you want to say to Jesus?
- Rest: Sit with Him in silence, letting the Word sink in.
Write any insights or prayers in a journal if you like.
Intercessory Prayer & Gratitude (10–15 minutes)
Learn how to do this in our guide. Spend time praying for:
- Family and friends
- Those who are suffering or lost
- Your parish, your mission, and the Church
- Your own intentions and spiritual growth
End with a few moments of gratitude:
“Thank you, Jesus, for… [name blessings from your day or life].”
Silent Adoration (10–15 minutes)
This is the heart of the hour. No words. Just presence.
Sit with Jesus.
Let Him love you.
Receive His gaze of peace.
If you feel distracted, simply repeat:
“Jesus, I trust in You.”
or
“Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)
Closing Prayers (5 minutes)
Act of Spiritual Communion (optional if not receiving the Eucharist):
“My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.”
Closing prayer suggestion:
“Jesus, thank You for this time with You.
Stay with me today and guide me in Your peace.
Help me live this hour of grace in everything I do.”
Finish with the Sign of the Cross.
