After serving a year at Doane University in Crete, Nebraska, as part of the BOSCO project, I will be moving two hours north to serve the students at Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska.

Después de servir un año en Doane University en Crete, Nebraska, como parte del proyecto BOSCO, me mudaré dos horas al norte de Crete para servir a los estudiantes del Wayne State College en Wayne, Nebraska.

While growing up, I was always involved in the church, either through the youth group or as an altar server. But I never felt that I had a true relationship with Christ. I was always told by many people around me what my relationship with Christ should be like, making the relationship with Christ feel forced and fake. This caused me to have a foot outside the Catholic faith, making me fall into sin. I always sought attention from many people in school, sports, and the church. When I wasn’t receiving the attention that I wanted from the community at my church, I separated myself from the community.  This led me to a path full of sin and anger that caused me to separate myself from my faith.

It wasn’t until I transferred to Colorado State University in Fort Collins that I was finally able to find a deep and personal relationship with Christ. After meeting a great Catholic community, which led me back to Christ, I still thought I wasn’t worthy of God’s mercy and that it was too late for me to have a meaningful relationship with Christ. But with the help of the missionaries at my campus and many friends, I realized that God has always wanted a relationship with me; all I had to do was accept him. ” Behold I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come to him and eat with him, and he with me” (Rev. 3:20)  After a lot of prayers and guidance, God has called me to give back and help those students who feel lost and are seeking a relationship with christ Christ, by becoming a FOCUS missionary.

After spending a year of formation with the BOSCO project in Nebraska, I was allowed to build on the love of Christ that I received in college, with the help of my formators, spiritual direction, and the other men I was living with. This formation I have received has helped me grow in a deeper relationship with God by detaching myself from many things I relied on in the past, and relying more on the love of Christ. I am looking forward to taking what I received and helping other men on college campuses grow in Christ and in community.
