The Lord has called me to serve my first year on mission at the University of Washington! Go Huskies!

I have been incredibly blessed to have grown up in a Catholic family, attending a Catholic K-8 in Saint Louis, Missouri. My identity was heavily rooted in the sports I did, friends I had, and the grades I got. While I had some profound encounters with the Lord, it was not until I went to college where it all changed.

When I made the decision to move all the way out to Grand Junction to attend Colorado Mesa University, I had no desire to keep my faith. I was on the cheer team and ended up joining a sorority, Alpha Sigma Alpha. Despite my best efforts, at the first club fair, there was a pull that I could only attribute to the Holy Spirit, that made me walk up to the Mesa Catholic table. I gave my number to someone at the table, and low and behold, it was a FOCUS Missionary. About two weeks later, she asked me to go to Mass, and it was through her joyous, authentic, and intentional pursuit of friendship with me that I came to know Christ. In the years to follow, the Lord showed various parts of His heart to me through bible study, discipleship, mission trip, Summer Projects, friendship, and even the little moments. Through all this, I found my true identity as a Beloved Daughter, and I no longer had to grasp for everything the world was telling me to be.

College students are in need now more than ever to know the heart of the Lord, and I am beyond excited to be part of this mission! These past four years, the Lord showed a love I never knew possible, allowing me to become free and fully alive. I said “yes” to be a FOCUS Missionary because I am being called to give back the love I have been so generously given.

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. Some people are called to give their time and use their gifts on mission, and others are called only to give of their treasure. I cannot be on mission without support both spiritually and financially, and it is through your generosity that I am able to serve on campus at the UW.
