We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
Hey! I’m Jacob a FOCUS missionary, welcome to my support page.
“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves”
— Philippians 2:3
The Lord has led me to serve Greek men at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln! GBR!
Here’s my team (left to right): Morgan, Avery, Faith, Katie, Leah, Lolesa, Luke B, Me, Johan, Luke F, Anders, Mathias.

Growing up in the suburbs of Chicago, I had one dream: becoming a sports broadcaster. The pursuit of that dream lead me to the University of Missouri to study journalism. Within two weeks of being on campus, I was working at NBC-affiliate KOMU-8 TV. I climbed the ladder and eventually earned a spot as a weekend sports anchor and multi-media journalist. I travelled the country covering Missouri at March Madness, the Gator Bowl, SEC media days, and several football games. I won several National and regional awards for my reporting. I had interest from several companies of making my childhood dream a reality.
By reading this on the FOCUS site, you already know the answer I gave them.
If you would have told me that coming out of Missouri I would be a Catholic missionary, I would have first called you crazy — and then probably enrolled in another school. My entire life had been oriented around journalism since before I could drive. I had no plans of doing anything else, until I met Christ. I had a series of encounters with Him in adoration, confession, and through virtuous friendships. His peace was the feeling I spent my whole life looking for. He gave me freedom and adventure! Helping me love my family and friends intentionally and taking me to Peru, SEEK, and even Silver Dollar City with our Associate Pastor.
I realized that His story for me is a better one than I could ever write.
Even when I was writing my story I was chasing Jesus.I looked for him in worldly relationships, fraternity life, and career success, but I had a god-shaped hole that only He could fill. The fun thing is everyone has that same God shaped hole. There’s one answer, one way, one truth to the abundant life and I can’t wait to share it with the men of Nebraska and the whole world.
God chooses to use us. We are called into His mission by our baptism and He invites us in Matthew 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations….”
We are all on Mission, but as a full time missionary I rely on the generosity of others to spread the Gospel to as many souls as possible.
Data suggests north of 85% of Catholics will stop practicing the faith by the end of college.
College is the breaking point, college is the battle ground.
If you feel called to partner with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you, I’d be honored to share in our mission with you!

We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.

By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.

We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
