Hello! My name’s Maura. I’m a FOCUS missionary at the Denver Support Center. My family and I would love to be on mission with you!
Where I serve
After two wonderful years as a campus missionary at the University of Rhode Island, I was called to serve FOCUS in a new way. In 2015, I moved to Denver to join the team at the main office.
As Sr. Manager of Quality, I lead the branch of our Quality, Growth, and Innovation team that focuses on gathering insights. Our work is to collect data and feedback from every corner of the organization and use it to help leaders make informed, data-driven decisions. This ultimately makes our support staff more efficient and our field staff more effective, allowing us to reach more students with the life-changing love of God.
My Story
“The hunger for love is much more difficult to remove than the hunger for bread.” –Saint Teresa of Calcutta
My own life was changed by the love of Jesus Christ during my freshman year of college at a FOCUS conference. In an overwhelming moment of recognizing His deep love for me, I surrendered my life to Him. From there, a great adventure began.
By my senior year, I was convicted to address a first-world poverty that Mother Teresa called “the hunger for love.” I saw the emptiness of a life without Christ and felt the ache of His heart for those who don’t know His love. My call to be a missionary was my way of answering that ache.
On this journey, I’ve seen lives change and mountains move. I’ve witnessed young people reconcile with their families, return to the Sacraments, and make choices that forever change the trajectory of their lives, their families, and the world. God is truly blessing the work of FOCUS, and it’s an honor to continue supporting our missionaries behind the scenes so they can be even more effective in their work.

When I said “yes” to God’s call to be a FOCUS missionary, I entrusted myself to His providence through the spiritual and financial support of mission partners. These are amazing people who metaphorically “walk with me” and make it possible for me to serve.
God is never outdone in generosity. As Christians,we are called to be generous with our time, talent, and treasure to build up His kingdom. This principle is woven throughout Scripture, from Abraham’s tithes to the support Jesus and His apostles received. It’s part of our Christian story.
Now, I invite you to consider how you are being called to support those who have devoted themselves to God’s ministry.
