My name is Megan (Meggy) Ahern! This is my fourth year on staff with FOCUS. I previously served three years on campus at the University of Idaho as a Greek missionary. And now in my fourth year, I am serving as a Parish missionary at Most Precious Blood Parish in Denver, Colorado.

The pivot point in my story began in my first year at Wichita State University. I had recently transferred schools from a music school in New York City, and like many, I recognized this thirst for something more in my life. But much like the story of the Woman at the Well, I didn’t know where to find the Living Water. I joined a sorority at Wichita State University, and it was through one of my sorority sisters that I was introduced to Katie, a FOCUS missionary, and was invited to Katie’s greek bible study. From my very first bible study, I was captivated by the way Katie talked about Jesus, the questions she asked us, and the way she lived her life. It was through her witness and this weekly encounter with Jesus in the Living Word that I began to want to know more of who He truly was. This desire led to a series of life-changing “yeses”. I said yes to returning to confession after years, yes to my first FOCUS SEEK conference, yes to daily Mass and Adoration… Through all of these moments, He began to speak into my life, inviting me to leave my ‘water jar’ behind and make Him the center of my life. In saying yes to Him, I started to experience what it meant to be fully alive. And I quickly began to recognize that if all of this is true, and I have experienced Him changing my life in such a radical way, I have to tell everyone about Him. Which led me to truly the most life-changing “yes” so far… being a missionary.

The mission I get to live out with FOCUS is to lead people to the Living Water, to hopefully be a witness like Katie was in my first-ever bible study, and to teach others to lead souls to the Living Water. When a heart encounters God, oftentimes the only response that suffices is running and proclaiming, “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?”. This adventure with the Lord is a story I could have never written for myself. It is truly the abundant life. I desire this life for the world and for the souls in Denver!
