I am blessed to serve on the Formation Team within the Formation Department of FOCUS! Our mission is to help all FOCUS staff, students, and parishioners imitate Jesus Christ, understand and live in the fullness of the Catholic faith, and guide others to do the same along the way.

Serving 3 years as a missionary on campus prepared me greatly for this new role. I am so grateful for my time at Benedictine College (go ravens!) and Wayne State College (I finally got to be a Wildcat). The students and teammates I encountered helped shape me more into the missionary I desire to be!

Now, what does the Formation Department do, you might ask? Fantastic question. The team is made up of missionaries within FOCUS who take on the responsibility of training and forming all the other missionaries within the organization. From our trainings, missionaries go forth all across the country to college campuses, parishes, and workplaces to share the Gospel. Apart from trainings, we also create resources for our students, parishioners, missionaries, and the Church! These include but are not limited to: Bible studies, articles, newsletters, blog posts, and materials for discipleship training. If you want to give some of them a look, click here! I am recently married to my best friend, Gabe Sehnert, and we live in Lincoln, Nebraska, where we seek to share the Gospel with all those we encounter in our daily lives.

The deepest desire of my heart is to know Christ Jesus and His love, and to bring this love to all those I encounter. John 17:3 tells us

now this is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ. ”

This truth has been burning inside me since I was a little girl, but coming to college, I was convinced otherwise.

My identity resided in my grades, accomplishments, and how “put together” I was, which was incredibly isolating and unfulfilling. I believed I was the sum of what I could do- instead of who I truly am, claimed from the beginning of time as a beloved daughter. God revealed this truth once again to my heart through a fellow student who led me not only in a Bible study, but also in the ins and outs of what a daily life with God can be. My life was forever changed; thanks be to God. That fellow student went on to become a FOCUS missionary, and even my teammate, after I became a missionary! Because of how my life was changed by Jesus, I knew I could do nothing but spend my life giving Him the space to do the same for others.

I pray this truth is imprinted on every young woman I encounter: that she is good, simply because she exists. That in a world of loneliness, she is not alone. That she is loved, by a good Father, and her life has endless meaning and value. 

In order to meet missionaries and students where they are at, I have the privilege of inviting others in this mission alongside me. I absolutely cannot do this alone. It is only because of the spiritual and financial support generous of mission partners like you that God is able to reach souls through this mission He has set me on!

I have been SO blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve in this role. Most of my support team consists of individuals, couples, families, and friends who donate anything from $10-$300 monthly. Without them (and the many, many people who give special gifts as they are able), I would not be able to do the work I do.
