Like most things in my life, FOCUS is a calling from God. I was looking to make a move to Denver and becoming a missionary was far from my mind. Missionaries serve in places like Costa Rica and Cambodia, not America, right?
Yet, Mother Teresa once said, The greatest disease in the West today is not TB or leprosy; it is being unwanted, unloved, and uncared for. In America there is not just material poverty, but spiritual poverty. Nowhere is this more visibly evident than on the American college campus. Young adults seem to have everything: friends, potential, education, opportunity. And yet, so many young people are lost.
Bombarded by a million false idols, with no clear guide or direction, colleges students find themselves unwanted, unloved and uncared for. Observing 19th- century England in the midst of the Industrial Revolution, Friedrich Engels wrote that wretched immigrant laborers turned to two things to escape their misery: sex and alcohol. Sound familiar?
My work is 100% fund-raised. I trust that just as God calls, He will provide. I have the privilege of giving my time and talents by going forth as a missionary of Christ. But behind every successful missionary, there is a support team of dozens of missionary partners who support through financial donations.
Join me in my ministry by your financial partnership and you will be actively taking a part in the mission of FOCUS. All gifts are tax deductible. Click the “Support Alex” button to get started.
I have an amazing opportunity to be a missionary and serve on a mission that looks to bring the joy and freedom and message of Jesus Christ back to our most influential generation. My ministry is national: to help identify and encourage those who are being called by the Holy Spirit to serve as campus missionaries and be the light of Christ in a world darkened by sin.
When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I’ve been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I’d be honored to share this mission with you.
God bless and thank you for your support! -Alex McGauley
