We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
I serve as a first-year missionary at Michigan Tech! Go Huskies!

Hey! My name is Alexis Moran, and I graduated from the University of South Dakota with a BBA in Economics & Finance. Here’s a snippet into how the Lord has worked in my life over these past few years!
My freshman year of college was marked by two seemingly unrelated realities. The first was that I desired deep friendship and communion with others, and the second was that Jesus Christ is truly present in the Eucharist.
Coming into my sophomore year, I made the decision to go through OCIA at my school’s Newman Center in order to be confirmed Catholic. I also made the commitment to say yes to all that the Newman had to offer me in a desperate attempt for friendship and community.
Throughout these past few years, the Lord has been nothing short of faithful to me. Not only do I get to receive Jesus Christ Himself (!) in the Eucharist as a Catholic, but I also get to receive Him every day through the incredible friendships and community He’s blessed me with.
Some say the Lord works in mysterious ways, but in my case, He worked through FOCUS. Through the personal accompaniment of full-time FOCUS Missionaries on my campus, I came to a much deeper understanding of Jesus’ love for me than ever before. By their examples, I have also learned what it means to live a life of holiness marked by prayer, fellowship, Mass, scripture, virtue, and so much more.
Looking back, I can see that these two “unrelated realities” I experienced during my freshman year were how Christ was drawing me closer to Him through His Church. The Lord is always drawing us nearer to Himself, and I am so excited to love and pour into the students at Michigan Tech over these next two years as a FOCUS Missionary to bring them closer to Christ.
When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me on this mission. Your partnership allows me to be available to encounter students on campus and share Jesus’ love and truth wherever they are at. If you are interested in joining this mission or hearing more, please do not hesitate to reach out at 605-222-0457! I would love to set up an appointment with you, and it would be an honor to share this mission with you.

We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.

By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.

We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
