While growing up Catholic, I found myself going through the motions and not truly investing in the faith. I didn’t fully understand the gift of the Church and certainly did not let my faith be a defining factor of my character. I was blessed with the opportunity to attend the University of Georgia and by the grace of God, I decided to keep up the habit of going to mass as I did growing up not realizing yet that it was what my soul yearned for. I found myself being invited to Seek with FOCUS my sophomore year and what I thought would be a fun trip with my friends turned into me finally letting my Best Friend in.

“Does the Lord really call me by name?”

I had truly seen Him in all of His glory for the first time. I realized there was one reason I was on earth, because God willed it. What was my will and what was the will of The Father? The Lord quickly took the drawing board and wiped it clean. I decided to put my anticipations of medical school on hold; I took a leap of faith I never saw myself doing and decided to serve Him on mission for a summer.

“Do I truly believe that the Spirit of the Lord who raised Christ from the dead lives in me?”

The Lord radically changed my life and my plans. He guided me to the right mentors, spiritual director, and resources and in doing so, changed the entire direction my soul was traveling. In reflecting on my time as a student as graduation approached, I realized how much of a impactful time it was. I realized that if it were not for the people the Lord placed in my life, I would not be where I am today and wouldn’t know the goodness of the Father.

“Will my fear of man justify the neutrality that results in the piercing of Jesus’ hands, feet, and side?”

The judgement of this world holds no power in God’s Kingdom! The Lord’s infinite love is meant to be shared and to be known. Who am I to keep the grace and love He has shown me a secret? In agreeing to serve the Lord with FOCUS, I desire to show students who may be in the shoes I was in that we have a good and gracious Father calling us home. In Him is the fullness of life and freedom.

“If not me, then who? If not now, then when? If not here, then where? If not for the Kingdom, then for what?”

In agreeing to be on mission with FOCUS, I opened the door to stepping into a deeper trust in God through spiritual and financial support raising. Intercession is real and I have the privilege of inviting YOU into it! We are all called to mission in some capacity and our God is a good and gracious God. Through partnering with you on this mission, I truly believe the Lord will move in unimaginable ways for the salvation of souls.

“Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them” Matthew 18:19-20
