We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
Hey hey! My name is Angelika and I’m a FOCUS missionary!!
“I feel so much more deeply that I am totally in God’s Hands – and I remain continuously available to my Lord, entrusting myself to Him through His Immaculate Mother.” – Pope Saint John Paul II
The Lord has called me to serve as a full-time missionary with FOCUS at California State University-Northridge. I have deep confidence that through this yes, He will bring His beloved Son, Jesus, to those who are searching for Him at CSUN. I have a pretty wild story about how Jesus met me in my brokenness and called me to this mission — I think you should hear it sometime! I’d love to grab a coffee (matcha for me!) and share it with you. <3
As a missionary, my greatest desire is to lead all students to Christ through the ordinary. My life has been transformed by Jesus and I want nothing more than to bring this radiant joy to others and introduce them to the One who has felt and endured it all. In small yet mighty ways, the Lord has showed me that this is His will for my life right now. For so long I tried to ignore that, through our baptism, we are all called to serve on mission in some way. It is an honor to be able to serve the Father in such a particular and incarnational way where I get to enter into students lives and run towards heaven with them, just as Jesus did on earth.
Throughout my time of studies in college, I longed deeply for friendship. But not just any sort of friendship. Over the past two years I have realized that this longing far surpassed one that the world could fulfill. The One that could ultimately fulfill this indescribable longing was Jesus. What a blessing it is to experience the small parts of His heart for me through the friends I have made at Colorado State University. Despite never going to CSU, the missionaries and students adopted me as their own and loved me in the hardest moments. I desire to do the same for the students I encounter. Many do not even have someone to share what has really been on their mind, their struggles, their joys. There is so much more out there for each of us. We just need to seek out people who will journey with us to greatness.
After interning at the Denver Support Center and living in community for Summer Projects, the Lord began to place mission with FOCUS on my heart. The nudge was quite consistent and I was very afraid of what it would mean. Like many, I tried to make up excuses but the Lord was very clear that He wanted me to trust Him in this. Time and time again the Lord has held out His hand and said, “Come. Step out of the boat.”
As I step into this new role, my mission is to step out of the boat and walk with Jesus. To joyfully and gently bring the students I encounter to do the same. This is His call for all of us.
When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I’ve been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me the past two years. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and we will work together to set something up. I’d be honored to share this mission with you.
We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
