We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
Hello there! My name is Ben, and I get to serve as a FOCUS missionary!
“For the love of Christ impels us, once we have come to the conviction that one died for all; therefore, all have died.” – 2 Corinthians 5:14
I grew up in a Catholic household, but I never build a relationship with Christ there. It wasn’t until I went to college that the Lord touched my heart in a profound way. He steered me toward Himself using men and women from the Newman center, including FOCUS missionaries, who were witness’ to the joy of Christ and showed me what genuine love looks like.
As my relationships with these people grew, they encouraged me to pursue the Lord at the center of my life, and so my relationship with the Lord also grew. I got to encounter the Lord in many ways including intimate prayer and retreats, bible studies, and community nights at the Newman Center. But most importantly, I was deeply opened to receiving the love of God through the friends that I made and through fostering genuine Christ-like love for one another.
As a young adult searching for happiness in a world of distraction, I needed people to guide me towards the sacred heart of Christ. And so, just as I learned to pursue the Lord as a student, He has now called me to serve others in the same way that I was intensely loved by Him, through being a FOCUS missionary!
Christ’s love, grace, and mercy is waiting to be received by His children, and my desire is to unite them together! College students are in one of the most important stages of the life, especially when it comes to practicing their faith. This why we must bring the Lord to students and spread the good news of Christ, that joy and happiness, in this life and the next, is only through intimate relationship with Christ Himself!
But as missionaries, we cannot live out mission on our own, and we need the support of Christ’s Church! Jesus has taught us, His followers, that we are all part of His divine mission to spread the word and build up His church. Being a mission partner might be a way that God is calling you to foster a deeper relationship with Him! So, I invite you to consider investing here the gifts we receive from the Father in heaven, not only financial ones but also spiritual ones in prayer, back into His heavenly mission! I am so grateful that God has called me to mission and it is a joy to have to have people supporting me out there! Don’t hesitate to reach out because I would love to talk about partnering on mission!

We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.

By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.

We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
