We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
I serve at the Denver Support Center (DSC) as a senior account, supporting our “on the ground” missionaries by alleviating their administrative work so they can be free to help others know Jesus and make disciples of the world!
In discerning my vocation in 2021, I had a series of powerful prayer experiences culminating into the Lord’s blessing in my desire to get married and have children. In great joy and gratitude, I asked Jesus, what can I do for you? His response: “Support the priests.”
I then went into a season of courting, engagement, and marriage to my beautiful wife Andrée, all the while this call was still in the back of my mind. I would focus on any needs of my parish priest, other priest friends, and give to those moving toward the priesthood, but it largely was not an active pursuit during this season of working toward my vocation.
Fast forward to 2024. After being in challenging secular work environments, I decided to apply for an open accounting position for FOCUS in the hope that a Catholic organization might better align with my values. I heard nothing back. About a month later, I felt a strong pull to figure out what this call to “support the priests” really meant. Right after that passion was reignited, I received an email from FOCUS to continue with the interview/hiring process.
In my discernment at the time, I wasn’t sure what was even meant by “priest”. Was it the men with the white collars or supporting the priestly role of everyone called to be priest, prophet, and king? Going to Google for answers, I was told that a priest is someone who brings God to others. I felt as though this is exactly what FOCUS is doing and my confidence increased that this was the path to pursue.
Now, as an accountant for FOCUS, I am certain God called us to Denver and this wonderful organization. I get to support a handful of priests directly, missionaries who are supporting priests in their roles, and the priestly role of individuals in bringing God to others through the work of FOCUS as a whole.
Aside from work, my wife and I are active in discipleship through leading Bible Studies, being active in our parish, Marked Men for Christ, Knight’s of Columbus, FarmHouse Fraternity, and ministering to those close to us as best we can. We are also expecting our first child and look forward to this new mission field: parenthood.
Zig Ziglar once said, “Money isn’t everything, but its right up there with oxygen.” The prudent stewardship and accounting of finances for FOCUS is what allows for the organization to grow and fulfill our Great Commission as effectively and efficiently as possible. While the accounting department ensures that all donations are accurately accounted for and able to be used for the mission of the organization, its your support that allows this mission through FOCUS to exist and change as many lives as it can every single day.
As part of my support team, you have the unique opportunity to directly impact the work of every missionary through my work while also supporting me and my growing family. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. I would be honored for you to join my support team!
