Hi! My name is Cecilia, and I’m a beloved daughter of the King of the Universe! I’m also a FOCUS missionary.

Where I serve

I am so excited to share that I will be beginning my first year on mission at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Go Tartans!

My Story

My story began in the same way as so many other Catholics today. Most of my childhood and adolescence were spent in a lukewarm relationship to faith, and a lack of understanding of who God was and how much He loved me. After experiencing a few tumultuous years in my personal life, I found myself at a place of responding to life with a heart of “stone”, shutting off emotion entirely. Instead of turning to love Himself, I chose to self-preserve and do it all on my own. As you can guess, that didn’t turn out too well!!!

As I began my undergrad studying music at the University of Maryland, I was quickly given a choice- I could either continue living life shutting down emotions and using unhealthy outlets to express my discontent, or I could take the leap to pursue a different approach. Unfortunately, I lacked the courage and fortitude to pursue the good and ended freshman year at a place of pain and discontent. By the beginning of my sophomore year, I was finished living life just “fine”, and deeply desired to experience the love and joy that I was made for.

Through God’s grace, I discovered the precious gift of His love for me through authentic friendships, a deeper love of the Sacraments, and eventually the personal investment of a FOCUS missionary. A huge part of my story was the strengthening of life-giving friendships from UMD’s Catholic Center. I would love to meet with you and share the entire story sometime! Jesus’ pursuit of my soul is the greatest love story of my life, and I still can’t believe that I get to call Him creator, father, lover, and even deepest and dearest friend. Did you know He desires to love you in all of these ways too?! What a good Father we have!
