My Story

I was fortunate to grow up in a Catholic home and community, and attended Catholic schools from grade school through high school while frequently participating in church community and music ministry. I started college at Western Kentucky University in the fall of ’21.

Upon entering college, I found myself in the position where I would have to choose my faith over and over on my own, and struggled without any community. It was difficult to prioritize when many people encouraged me not to, especially in an environment that focused on doing what was easy and convenient. I felt alone and often questioned why I should be committed to my faith when the world around me had no place for it.

My sophomore year, a FOCUS missionary saw that I had been coming to Mass alone for a year, and invited me into our Newman Center’s community. I saw the joy with which she lived her life, and I deeply desired what she had, which was a relationship with Jesus. She introduced me to Bible studies and inspired me to take my faith life seriously and pray often. I became close friends with my Bible study leader, and both she and the FOCUS missionaries on campus encouraged me to attend a SEEK conference, where I radically encountered Jesus and His love. I left that conference transformed, and ready to reach for the love that Christ offered.

Since that conference, I have known Jesus instead simply knowing of Him. I attended Bible studies weekly for three years, and entered in a discipleship program to take seriously the invitation that Christ offers each of us to follow Him. The FOCUS missionaries on campus desired to love each of us no matter where we were and were deeply intentional in getting to know as many students on campus as they could. Because of the example of how they lived and loved, I desired to do the same.

I applied to be a FOCUS missionary and was sent to Murray State University in Kentucky. There I was able to walk alongside many women in their faith, both those who were deeply devoted to Christ and those who were meeting them for the first time. Jesus transforms lives on mission, and it has been such a blessing to work with the girls at Murray.

For my second year on campus, I will be doing the same at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. I am so excited to be able to help the girls there become more devoted to Christ and help them to bring Him to others at UTC!

Your Impact

I cannot do this without you! When I accepted the call to FOCUS, I accepted Christ’s call to include others in mission by asking for support from mission partners. Your support makes it possible for me to reach out to students and share Christ with them.

Thank you for your consideration of joining my support team. Please let me know of the best way to reach you and schedule a meeting.
