We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
The Lord has called me to serve a second year at Indiana University! GO HOOSIERS!
Team IU 2025-2026: Sophie, Caroline, Mark, Will P, Me, Will B
I felt lost when I got to college in the Fall of 2020. I had missed so many experiences due to COVID, and my faith was at an all-time low. I attended mass my whole life, but I had never taken the time to form a personal relationship with God. Fortunately, I moved into the Newman Center at the University of Illinois and met a FOCUS Missionary who deeply invested in me and helped me through sorority recruitment. I was a small-town girl who didn’t know anyone, so I joined a FOCUS small group bible study hoping to form some new virtuous friendships.
It was through the invitations and authentic friendship of a FOCUS Missionary that helped lead me to know what it meant to be loved by the Lord.
As time went on, I grew in my faith, learned how to pray, and found community with other students. Then, through leading a small group bible study, I truly experienced the brokenness of college students who yearned to fill the emptiness in their hearts. They just often didn’t know with what or WHO. My experience made me realize that having missionaries on campus is life-changing, and going on a Mission Trip helped me recognize the Lord calling me to become a FOCUS missionary because I truly desire to help people become made new in Christ and experience how He can fill our hearts with His unwavering, merciful love just as He helped me encounter Him during my time on campus.
When I answered the Lord’s call to join FOCUS, I committed to relying on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me on mission.
If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know the best way to reach you, and I will schedule an appointment. I’d be honored to share this mission with you 🙂

We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
