The credit belongs to the man who is acutally in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”
I started my Freshman year at the University of Oklahoma in 2020, right at the height of COVID. I dedicated all my time to my studies and thought that would be enough. Yet, by my junior year, I knew there had to be more to life than this!
I went to St. Thomas More University Parish for the first time, met a FOCUS Missionary, and began to have the healing love of Christ and the power of the Gospels proclaimed to me. It was through the amazing love and support of the FOCUS Missionaries and the STM community that my life was changed forever. In the Fall of 2024, I started OCIA, and by the end of the year, my life had been so profoundly transformed that I felt called to mission and to become a FOCUS Missionary. I hope to bring the same love and support to students that I received and see them be transformed by the love of Jesus and the power of the Gospel!
You can help shape the lives of these students, too! Not all of us are called to go out evangelize this way, but we can all support the building of God’s Kingdom. Mission partners are side-by-side, in spirit, with missionaries, equipping us with the resources to build God’s Kingdom and the prayers, support, and love that push us to reach as many souls as possible!
I pray that our students have a true model of Christian charity that will propel them into the world, not feeling restricted by finances, but trusting that the work of God’s Kingdom will always be provided for.
