Where I serve

Hi! My name is Elijah Downey and I serve at the University of Denver (DU) as a first year missionary.

My Story

Entering college, my faith was merely attending a Sunday mass and checking it off the box. During my Junior year, I had an encounter with Jesus. I attended an Easter Vigil, and my whole perspective on the Mass changed.

Entering into my senior year, A FOCUS missionary on campus invited me to a fall break pilgrimage, and the trip became a holy time with new friends. I realize how crucial it is in our faith to have a good backing of people. We are called to communion with our Lord and to share in our trials and triumphs with others.  In twofold, I was invested in, and I am called to invest in others. It is an intimate relationship to share in the sufferings and the joy of Christ, to come into communion, and to expand the kingdom of Heaven.

Your Impact

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. If you feel like the Lord is inviting you to join me on my mission, I’d love to set up an appointment with you. God bless!
