My Story

Growing up in a strong Catholic family, my faith was always something that was important to me. I was deeply involved with Life Teen at my home parish which laid the bedrock of my faith, and gave me an initial introduction to the greta love the Lord had for me. However, when I began college at Texas A&M in the midst of COVID I quickly fell into the ways of the world and the college party culture. With no in person classes, and church happening online, I began to sink deeper and deeper searching for something that would satisfy the deep ache of my heart.

It wasn’t until my sophomore year, when I decided to sign up for sorority recruitment that the Lord began to show me His unrelenting pursuit of my heart. Outside of one of the sorority houses there was a girl named Grace who asked me if I was Catholic, (to which I responded “kinda”) and if I would be interested in joining her FOCUS bible study. After getting coffee with her on a rainy day in College Station, Texas I began to see that the Lord might have more for me. I joined her bible study and began to learn about the faith in ways I never had before! I started to truly desire to grow in my relationship with the Lord, and in turn grow in virtue.

After about of year of going to bible study, I started discipleship with one of the Missionaries, Dani, which truly changed my life. It wasn’t an immediate change, but through her consistent friendship, leadership, and genuine kindness I came to know the truth that the Lord truly longed for me, and desired my good. Through discipleship, and through bible study I was able to grow in deep friendship with the women around me who are some of my very best friends in the world. I also had the great gift of leading my own bible study, walking with freshman and sophomores at A&M, and discipling 7 incredible women. Throughout my walk with them I learned even more about the heart of Jesus for his beloved children, and make some pretty incredible friends. Below is a photo of our bible study from my senior year at A&M! I will cherish this bible study and these women for the rest of my life!

After graduating from Texas A&M in 2024 (Whoop)! I moved back home to Houston where I began working! I loved my job, and I especially loved getting to lead bible study for a group of young adult women. I led bible study for them every week, and it very quickly became my favorite part of the week. It was through many of them that the Lord began to speak to me and invite me to consider taking the leap of faith and stepping out into full time mission with FOCUS.

The consistent theme in my story and in so many others is the immense impact of a small yes. A FOCUS Missionaries small yes changed my life, and I can only hope that my small yes will do the same for others.

“God would never inspire me with desires which cannot be realized; so in spite of my littleness, I can hope to be a saint.” – St. Therese
