We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
Hello! My name is Ian Holmes! Thank you for stopping by my page! Please consider joining me on mission as we reach out to others to win souls for Christ and His Church!
As a first year missionary, I will be serving at Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania! I am excited to go on mission for the Lord at this college with all of you!
I was raised Catholic all my life. I went to Mass every Sunday with my family and went to CCD to receive my sacraments. I also went to Calvert Hall College for my high school education. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, I began to truly search for God and what it meant to have a relationship with Him. After an experience with the Eucharist, I realized that I was a sinner in need of God’s mercy and that Jesus Christ truly died for my sins. This would lead me to go to confession six months later as I eventually came to the realization that the Catholic Church was the Church that Jesus Christ founded. During this time of my reversion in my freshman year of college I had a scary realization: many souls are being lost to the temptations of this world. This led me to have a desire to evangelize and get involved at my Newman Center at Towson University. It was here that I met my FOCUS missionaries.
They helped me to grow in my faith by leading Bible studies and walking with me in my faith by sharing their lives with me, whether that be sharing meals, watching movies, or playing Mario Kart together. I participated in outreach efforts with my missionaries on campus and enjoyed doing it that I wish I could’ve spent more time trying to reach students. I wanted to become a full-time missionary after college because of the fruits on Towson’s campus that I saw from the efforts of my missionaries and their mission partners.
My goal as a first-year missionary at Shippensburg University is threefold:
When I said yes to FOCUS, I put my trust entirely in the Lord to provide for me.
I have decided to radically put my trust in God through the prayers and financial support of my mission partners. The support of my mission partners allows me to be generous with my students so finances will never be a barrier to someone hearing the Gospel.
There is nothing special about me as a missionary. With the generous help of my mission partners, through prayers and financial support, we can fulfill Jesus’s Great Commission (Mt 28:19-20) to make disciples of all nations and bring more souls into the Kingdom of God!
We are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses of the saints who have gone before us, encouraging us to run the race so as to win it (Heb 12:1). Jesus has already won the battle of death for us (1 Cor 15:57). We have nothing to lose and everything to gain by going on this journey to save souls! Will you join me?

We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.

By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.

We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
