We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. – John 17:3
I serve as a first-year FOCUS missionary at the University of Alabama!
I grew up in Lafayette, Louisiana in a Catholic family. Though I grew up with the faith, I didn’t have a personal relationship with God. Going to church seemed like a waste of time and the teachings felt like an unnecessary burden. I sought happiness through academics, friendships, and material possessions. In high school, I completely abandoned the Catholic faith, thinking I could find something better in the world than God Himself.
I moved from Louisiana to Alabama for college and majored in chemical engineering. My first semester, I achieved high academic success and got involved in extracurriculars – things that I thought promised fulfillment. Yet, I still felt empty inside.
One day, Bama Catholic was tabling on campus, and my heart was moved to approach. Following a meaningful and personal conversation, I was invited to go back to Mass. In this, Christ sought me out and brought me to Himself. And from there on, a sense of meaningful community started to develop.
As I began to participate in the sacraments regularly my spring semester freshman year, I came to personally know the love and mercy of Jesus Christ, the only one Who could perfectly fill that space in my heart. Through personal prayer, Eucharistic Adoration, and Mass, my life was transformed.
Getting involved in FOCUS during college strengthened my desire to grow in virtue and invest in others. This apostolate places a large emphasis on community-building, especially through Bible study and discipleship groups. The FOCUS missionaries provided accountability and inspiration in my walk with Jesus, and I want to invest in other college girls in the same way.
I attended a FOCUS mission trip to Yucatán in the spring of 2026. There, I realized a deep desire for others to know and love Christ. There was great joy that radiated from my heart from simply being available to love others. Even with a degree in hand and a promising career ahead, I felt the invitation to follow Him. I finally allowed God to invite me into a mission for souls entirely zealous for Christ and striving for Heaven. And I want to invite people like you to come on mission for Him with me.
As a FOCUS missionary, I rely on God’s providence to go on mission. This comes from your financial and spiritual support, which builds up the Kingdom. I would be honored to have you as a partner as I go out on campus these next few years! Your prayers and support fuel the mission and plant seeds for God’s Kingdom. Please reach out so we can connect!

By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.

We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
