Where I serve

Hey everybody! My name is Jackson Probst! I am a 1st-year missionary from Teutopolis, Illinois, serving with the Bosco Project on the Campuses of Elmhurst University and North Central College in Naperville, Illinois, along with my teammates Enzo Torlone, Gabriel Carrington, James Turner, Nicolas Fackenthall, and Rafael Avila Cerna.

My Story

Throughout my childhood, I never really took a lot of interest in Catholicism or getting to know Jesus until middle school, when my Father began teaching our religion classes. This was the initial spark when I knew God was trying to speak to me.

It wasn’t my freshman year of college that I took my first step on my journey towards Heaven and getting to know Jesus. The Newman Catholic Center at Eastern Illinois University instantly became my home, and I became surrounded by not only others who desired to know Christ better, but also an unbelievably welcoming community of alumni, fellow students, and other community members from Charleston.

Throughout my time at EIU, I would continue to get further and further involved in the Newman community and my relationship with Jesus. In addition, my senior year was when we got FOCUS on our campus, and I began to dive further and further into knowing Christ. Being led by Serena Michael and Colton Garity, missionaries at EIU, through discipleship allowed God to work through me throughout every aspect of my life, no matter where I went or who I spoke to.

Little did I know that this would also be when God called me to join FOCUS to share with others His good word and never-ending love.

One of my close friends at college said something to me that has continued to resonate with me throughout my time with FOCUS:

“I have found so much joy in seeking Jesus and building a relationship with Him. How is it fair that only I get to experience this immense joy?”

FOCUS’s Mission Statement is to know Christ Jesus and to fulfill His great commission. Through your support, I have the privilege of walking with students in their relationship with Jesus through bible studies and discipleship, allowing those who know Him and those who don’t know Him to have the opportunity to put Christ at the center of their lives. I have the honor of helping my Lord reach souls on a college campus, where students are likely to lose their faith.
