Where I serve

I serve the Kingdom at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. Sting ’em!

My Story

Growing up in Southwest Louisiana I was accustomed to the Faith. Never missing Sunday Mass, prayer before meals, and regular exposure to contents of the Faith in catholic school gave me a foundation I can now thank God for everyday now, but as a boy it meant nothing to me, and as early as middle school I rejected all of it. Admittedly it is a little strange for a kid to become as cynical and skeptical as I was, but truly I let trust in my loving creator die in my heart. Keeping all this to myself, I let a chasm form between myself, others, and God, leading me to loneliness, despair and anger. Despite some good memories, I was really only surviving from day to day. At my worst I concluded that, though there was a God, he certainly didn’t care about me.

In high school, new friendships, a new sense of belonging, and a number of other prayers answered woke me to the idea that God was out there. But as I started coming back around, ‘faith’ became something that served me. Despite the miraculous come-back, I still thought I knew better than the Church in her moral teachings, was full of false humility, and continued living in sin. It wasn’t until a retreat my parents signed me up for that I encountered the person of Christ and discovered that he desired to play an active role in my life, and I began turning my will slowly over to him. I cannot say I began to be a Christian until that turning point.

I started engaging in Christian community, started to pray daily, formed friendships centered on Christ, and started serving others through small leadership roles in my Diocese. By God’s providence I found myself shipping off to the University of Dallas, where I learned much more about our Faith, Theology, fell in love with the true, the good, and the beautiful, and was encountered by the FOCUS missionaries there. Because of their friendship, I learned that doing for others as they had done for me (leading Bible studies and walking with others in discipleship), the more I gave of myself, the more my own heart was opened to the love of Christ.

This past year on mission I’ve gotten to walk with a number of students and have seen the Holy Spirit bring amazing fruit, not only in their lives, but in those around them and in mine. This is what we were made for.

Your Impact

I want to go on mission with you.

I’m building a team of people who can help us make the mission happen so we can offer more to the students we work with, whether that’s buying a student coffee or taking them on a life-changing mission trip to Peru.

None of what we do happens without your support, but without the spiritual support of mission partners willing to pray for Holy Spirit to descend on Georgia Tech, our efforts won’t bear fruit. So if you’d like to support me materially or spiritually, please reach out. I’d love hear your story, tell you more about what we do, and invite you on mission with me however you’re moved to.

“So deeply do we care for you that we are determined to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you have become very dear to us.” – 1 Thessalonians 2:8
