We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:37-39
My name is Jerzie and I am excited to be serving as a first missionary, at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Go Chargers!
Growing up, I never really felt known. I had friends, but I wasn’t deeply connected, and I started believing I had to earn love through performance. When I got to college, I had everything I thought I wanted, friends, parties, good grades—but inside I felt empty and deeply depressed.
One night, at my lowest point, I cried out, “I’m so tired,” and wondered if my life was worth living. In that moment, I heard a voice say, “Tell Me I care,” and I knew it was the Lord. After that, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I needed to go to church and get a Bible. Even though I was scared and didn’t know how to pray, I gave Jesus my life and asked Him to change me.
I began attending a non‑denominational church, and later my Catholic boss invited me to hers. Little by little, I felt drawn to the Catholic Church. Through OCIA, I discovered the beauty of the sacraments and realized I wasn’t meant to walk through life—or faith—alone. Encountering Jesus in baptism, confession, and the Eucharist showed me that He truly sees me, knows me, and loves me.
Now I desire to help students encounter the same Jesus who met me in my darkest moment and brought me home.
This is where YOU come in! When I said “yes” to joining FOCUS, I chose to step out in faith and depend on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help make this mission possible. While not everyone is called to serve far from home, we are all invited to live on mission in our own way. The generosity of committed mission partners is what allows this work to continue and bear fruit.
If you want to partner with me, please feel free to reach out to me and we can schedule an appointment. I’d love to hear your story and unite our hearts in this shared mission of bringing others to Christ and fighting for the souls that don’t know they’re in a battle.
“Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit.” – Philippians 4:17

We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.

By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.

We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on.
