Where I serve

I will be making my way down to serve my first-year with FOCUS at Missouri Science & Technology! Go Miners! I am super excited to begin mission with my incredible team. Below is Miles, myself, Liv, Lizzy, Baby Miriam and Brennan!

My Story

Before truly encountering Christ in college, I was living a life of what I thought was freedom. As I transitioned into college I found myself floating among friend groups trying to find my place and my people. At the end of the day I always felt empty and alone – not sure where to go next. I would attend Sunday mass here and there and pop in for a few minutes of adoration at the campus parish, but never much more. Until, a missionary invited me into a women’s bible study. I was hesitant at first but ended up trying it out.

That invite was the turning point in my college career. The women in bible study quickly became my best friends who I was able to live with in a house together the following year. Together we fostered a sisterhood rooted in Christ. After I became more comfortable with bible study I began to attend other parish events. I found there to be a noticeable difference in the people at parish events. They began to ask me “how are you doing” rather than “what are doing”. There I felt seen, heard, and cared for. A feeling I was missing since home way 7 hours away from college.

Another pivotal turning point of my faith life occurred on one of the spring retreats the campus parish was hosting. There during Eucharistic Adoration I felt this draw and desire to go to confession. After what felt like a few hours of nervously standing in line (really only about 6 min.) I made my first confession back into the faith after eight years of being away. Yes, it was scary, but it is where I encountered the love and mercy of Christ firsthand. Ever since then the Lord has granted me so many graces and blessings through the sacraments and friendships!
