I will be leaving behind the cornfields of the Midwest, and moving to the fields of the harvest of the Kingdom of God where:

“The harvest is many but the laborers are few” Matthew 9:37-38

The laborers are few . . . that’s where I come in. I will be serving at San Jose State in California. Yes it is far from my home in Nebraska and Kansas, but the Lord is calling me onward and I cannot resist. While some things yet remain a mystery, I trust that God has a good plan and is already preparing the hearts of those I will impact.

The school of San Jose State is in the middle of the bustling city of San Jose and is home to over 30,000 college students. Students who are waiting to be set free from the clutches of the enemy. Some have heard the good news and need to be built up and encouraged, while some still live in darkness waiting for the light of Christ to be proclaimed to them.

Being raised in the faith I have been so blessed to have been born into the family of God. I did not take this great gift seriously until college when I discovered the power of the word of God and intercessory prayer at college at Pittsburg State in Pittsburg, KS. It was there that the door of my heart was opened and God rushed in.

Slowly but surely, things began to change. I began to desire the things of heaven, and turn away from the things of earth. A great gratitude and love began to grow in my heart, and a desire to show others this love that I was and still am experiencing. This love only deepened through retreat experiences, mission trips, and fellowship.

All of these things drew to start a life of prayer which is where I first started to hear God’s call to ministry. This call continued to get louder as I received more and more of Jesus. He started to work through me in powerful ways, ways that I could never have imagined. Bringing fallen away souls back to the truth and guiding the wandering and lost. All the while realizing that the more I know and love God, the more I understand just how far away from him I still am, and how I am still in need of his love everyday.

In and through this realization I have accepted the call to a mission. A mission not my own however, but a co-mission, thee great commission set forth by God for each one of us to make disciples of all nations. Do I have it all figured out, by no means, but I know that God is good and he will persevere in me. I will continue to strive to know, serve and love God and those he has placed in my care. How will you fulfill the great commission, will you join me?

For some, their call is to leave it all behind and to go forth preaching and teaching. For others, their call is to be a lifeline, the supporting structure that makes this kind of radical yes possible. To say I could do it alone would be foolish. God is clear that the Christian life is not meant to be lived alone. As I step into the lives of students and bring the light where darkness reigns I will need help. Will you send me where no one else is going, to bring a message no one else is bringing?

Nothing that I do is possible on my own strength which is why I invite you to join me in two ways. Financially, and prayerfully. While I value your support greatly, what I value more is earnest prayer. Our God is a good God who listens to the cries of his children and answers speedily. The power of prayer opened the door of my heart and I have faith that it will open the hearts of the many souls that we can reach according to God’s will.
